Washington Keeps Bailing Out Farmers

A letter on what the war is doing to the farm economy: fertilizer prices jumped when the Strait of Hormuz closed, Washington reached for the checkbook, and farmers promised independence are now kept afloat by the largest federal share of farm income in a generation. The argument is that they deserve an economy that survives without a bailout, not another speech.

A Pesticide-Free Farm Can Have Worse Soil Than One Sprayed With Roundup

The case that pulling glyphosate off a farm is not automatically a win for the ground: when the herbicide goes, the plow tends to come back, and tillage is harder on soil structure and the life in it than the chemical it replaced.
